Correctional Officers -

Two Bridges Regional Jail is the
first regional jail operating in New England,
and opened in November 2006. We have state
of the art jail management systems and utilize
the direct supervision approach to inmate
management.
We are looking for smart,
articulate communicators who have an interest in
working with people and have great interpersonal
skills.
This is a line
staff level position, responsible to the Shift
Commander I.
The correctional officer ensures a high quality
direct supervision corrections facility by
providing for the care, custody, and control of
inmates; supervises inmates to ensure a safe and
humane environment; handles inmate discipline
fairly and effectively; responds to inmate
requests in a fair and balanced fashion;
builds positive rapport and personal credibility
with inmates; supervises inmates in a
well-organized and attention getting manner;
resolves inmate problems and conflicts; and
maintains effective administration and staff
relations.
APPLICATION/HIRING PROCESS
APPLICATION EVALUATION:
Applications are reviewed after receipt to
verify that each candidate meets TBRJ hiring
guidelines. Candidates who do not meet these
guidelines are disqualified from further
consideration and will be notified as such.
Applicants who do meet the guidelines WILL BE
INVITED to participate in the following:
· WRITTEN
EXAM:
Applicants must score an 80 or better on the
written exam to proceed to the Oral Board
interview.
Test questions are multiple choice and fall
within the categories of Writing Skills and
Reading Comprehension.
· PHYSICAL
AGILITY TEST (PAT):
The PAT is a pass/fail test. It consists of a
timed 150# Dummy Drag (one minute), stair climb,
and a timed 1.0 mile run. Standards for
successful completion of the PAT are listed
below.

Body Drag
|
Candidate will drag a 150-pound dummy in
a straight line a total of 50 feet
within one minute. The clock will start
as the candidate secures the dummy.
Candidate will then drag the dummy to
the finish line/stopping point. The
clock will not stop until the entire
dummy’s body is across the finish line. |

Stair Climb
|
The
candidate must be able to run or jog up
and down a flight of designated stairs
without stopping. |

The
candidate will walk, jog, run, or any
combination thereof, a distance of one
mile. A measured, level course will be
used, such as an indoor or outdoor
track. Exact distances will be
indicated. A monitor will keep record
of the distance and time the applicant
has completed. The test administrator
will count out loud the number of laps
completed. |

ORAL BOARD INTERVIEW:
All candidates successfully passing the written
and PAT above will be scheduled for an Oral
Board interview. Oral Boards are usually
scheduled within one week of successful
completion of the exam process above. The Oral
Board is a structured interview that evaluates
applicants' skills in the areas of commitment
and independence; judgment and logic; decision
making decisiveness; tact & diplomacy and
communication skills.
NOTE: Each
component of the TBRJ examination process must
be completed successfully. Failure to
successfully complete a component will result in
disqualification from further consideration.
Applicant’s who are eliminated from
consideration, must wait six months from date of
elimination before reapplying.
